Award-winning Horse Chestnuts

The Horse Chestnut Stems series by Duncan Smith has received international recognition since its creation.

The series won Silver in the Professional, Still Life category at the 2026 reFocus Awards, selected from entries submitted by photographers from 104 countries and judged by an international panel representing organisations including The New York Times, Condé Nast, Rizzoli Publishing, The Robb Report and the Financial Times.

And the story continues. Horse Chestnut Stem No 1 was shortlisted for the inaugural Benjamin Hall Photography Award at the Holt Art Projects Awards from more than 800 submissions

While Horse Chestnut Stem No 2 will appear in FLORA, the forthcoming Shutter Hub Editions photography book, creatively directed by Karen Harvey MBE.
